Christine Webber is a qualified psychotherapist with many years’ experience, including supporting people who have struggled with their weight. She holds qualifications in integrative psychotherapy and stress management, and practised in Harley Street for almost 20 years. She also has a particular interest in ageing and health.
She’s created a series of short videos for Slimmr based on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). CBT is a type of psychotherapy that looks at how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes influence your feelings and behaviours. It teaches practical coping skills you can use day to day. While CBT is often associated with treating anxiety or depression, the tools are widely used in supporting behaviour change, and it’s well established in helping people with weight loss.
The new weight loss medications can be a huge step forward, but they still work best alongside lasting changes to habits and lifestyle — and those changes can feel daunting. These videos are designed to help you gently tackle some of the psychological challenges that can come up during weight loss, so you feel more supported and more able to stay on track.
Each video is around five minutes long, so they’re easy to fit into even a busy week. Every episode focuses on a specific topic and offers simple insights and techniques you can try straight away. Topics include self-esteem, motivation, handling unhelpful comments from others, embracing change, staying motivated when you’re dealing with side effects, self-compassion and learning from setbacks, as well as the importance of sleep and a healthy, balanced diet.
