The dose of Wegovy is designed to be increased gradually over several months. The reason for this is that it gives your body time to adjust to the medication and this helps to minimise side effects. The manufacturers of Wegovy have produced a ‘titration regime’ – this is the rate that Weogvy can be increased month by month. The starting dose is 0.25mg and the maintenance dose is 2.4mg a week. However, everyone is different and while the highest dose is recommended for the most effective weight loss, some people prefer to maintain at a lower dose and this can be discussed with your prescriber and together you can decide on the maintenance dose that’s right for you.
