Typically, doses increase in steps at set intervals (often every 4 weeks). This is to reduce the likelihood of side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, and abdominal pain. The prescriber confirms the schedule for each patient. Not everyone needs the highest dose; some patients maintain on a lower dose that suits them. For switchers from antoher provider, we may be able to continue an established dose if we have evidence of their current prescription.
