Eating more protein not only helps people feel fuller for longer, but protein is also needed to build muscle mass. Make sure you are getting at least the recommended intake of protein with every meal and make sure your diet is not too carbohydrate heavy. Because you no longer feel as hungry, it is easy to skip meals but this risks low blood glucose levels which will make you feel tired and lacking in energy. Even if you are not hungry, your body still needs nutrition. We have seen patients who, while they lost weight, were eating only half a bacon cheeseburger for lunch and an ice cream for dinner. Will they keep this weight off after coming off GLP-1s? Absolutely not.
