Studies have shown that around 1 in 4 patients will experience vomiting as a side effect while on weight loss medication. This is usually very brief and passes as the body gets used to the new medication. Sometimes, vomiting comes along with feeling nauseous, and for some, the act of vomiting can offer some relief and is sometimes following eating a large portion of food.
While it’s not pleasant, remember it doesn’t affect everyone and that for most patients who are effected, this side effect does tend to improve.
If you find that you do experience this, then there are a few things you can do.
Take small sips of fluids often to avoid dehydration.
Sip every 5 minutes and gradually increase to regular amounts once the vomiting eases.
When you're able to eat:
Opt for simple, low-fat foods like crackers, toast, and rice.
Eat foods that contain water, like soups and gelatin.
Stay upright after eating.
